FALL TRAVELS

It's almost time to go again.  We are about to embark on our second big trip of 2023. Why?  to visit friends, see animals, and explore places we've not been before.

For the past 7 years, we've gotten to know Craig, who lives in Johannesburg, and for the past 10, Damien and his family, who live in France. Since we like to travel with the intention to visit friends, this fall seemed like the perfect time to combine visits to see these dear people and visit places that are new and exciting.

 The beginning

On October 19, we leave Minneapolis on an afternoon flight to Paris where we'll meet up with Damien, Priyam, and Prithvee and later, Brigitte and Philippe, Damien's parents.  We are sharing an AirBnB with Brigitte and Philippe for 8 days.  Even though I (Lydia) have been in Paris twice, John has never been there. So, we have plans to walk, visit some museums, eat some delicious food, and have some wonderful time with friends.

The second leg -  the main event

On 10/27, we fly from Paris to Johannesburg where we'll meet up with Craig.  He has stayed with us over the past 7 years (or so) when he comes to St. Paul to work at the Center for Victims of Torture where he is the Director of Research. We'll have several days with him before our official tour begins on 10/31 with Over Seas Adventure Travel.  We'll have time in Johannesburg, Cape Town, and on several trips to see animals.

The add on

Our tour is officially over on 11/18, but we are staying a few extra days to go to Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe.  I don't guess we'll get over in that part of the world again, so that will be a glorious end to our trip.

Respite from South Africa

The last leg of our trip will be two days in Paris, really two partial days and one full day as we return home on 11/24.

 How this will go

Watch for updates daily, or as close to daily as I can depending on internet. When we are in the game parks in South Africa, we might not have access to any.

Thanks for following along.
